GUESS THAT NAME CONTEST!

So you want a signed copy of “Legend of the Oceina Dragon” and to be put on my list of people who get a first copy of my new book “Vala: Agendas” when it releases, along with a number of other dragon/mythology/magical related goodies? For free????

Here’s your chance to win! From now until Saturday, October 15. I will be holding a contest. How do you win? It’s simple. Guess the name of Darien and Tai’s baby.

Last night I officially put the name to paper. I have not told a single person this name before. The first person to guess it correctly wins the prize pack! Pretty simple right? I’ll post one hint on twitter/facebook  every day/every other day if people seem to be struggling. Comment here, tweet it at me, message me, email me. As soon as someone guesses, I will make sure to tell them/everyone. If two people guess it at the same time, I’ll do a random drawing between the two, or work something out.

Good luck!

HINT ONE: It is a BOY name.

HINT TWO: I did not make this name up.

HINT THREE: It is NOT a mash-up name of the parents.

HINT FOUR: It is a common/normal name.

Already guessed list:

Caleb

Aiden

Dante

Orion

Darien Jr.

Tarien

Jacob

Xavier

The more people who follow, the higher the prizes, so pass the word along and get commenting. :D

Hope to hear from you soon!

You could win this!

Okay, so it’s been a long, long, time since I’ve done a contest. There’s a reason for that: I’ve been putting together an epic prize.

Contents:

1 Dragon Webkinz

1 Authentic hand made Chinese fan

1 Notebook

1 copy of Wreck This Journal

1 set of Hello Kitty gel pens

1 Signed copy of “Legend of the Oceina Dragon” (not pictured)

1 Dragon sillyband (also not pictured)

So how do you win?  It’s easy. This is going to be a typical follower/comment contest.

You get 1 entry for:

* Following me on twitter (+1 if you already follow me).

* Tweeting about this contest.

(copy this tweet and link to the post: I want a prize pack from @jfjenkinstweets!)

* Subscribing to this blog.

* commenting this post, telling me how many entries you have!

No points will be given for Facebook ‘likes’ due to their TOS, but those are always welcome none the less.  Same thing with likes on Amazon, as well as a “dragons”, “ya”, or other appropriate tags on my book. ;)

So you can have a total of four entries (five if you’ve been following for a while).

Here’s what makes it even BETTER. If say, 50 people enter? I’ll put together ANOTHER prize pack. Another 50 after that and I’ll another prize. Basically, every 50 people I’ll add some kind of additional prize. Also, everyone who enters automatically gets a personalized letter from me, and a fantasy sillyband. So no matter what, you’re a winner in some way shape or form!

This is gonna run until the 15th of July, so you have two weeks to spread the word and get yourself entered.

Go go go!!!!!

Ack!

Okay, so I have about four weeks of “Wreck This!” to share with you on my phone. Unfortunately I’m not on my computer so I’m having so issues with getting things loaded up and all of this other technological mumbo jumbo. I’m going to post it tomorrow, along with my “Why I Love” response. Keep your eyes peeled!

What else? I’m writing up a storm still, and I still haven’t forgotten about my “if it fits in a box I’m going to ship it” contest. I told myself I would do it as a reward for finishing Dragons 2. Well, now I’m going to run the contest July 1st regardless of if I’m finished or not. Why? Because I think you all have been waiting for long enough. It’ll probably be one of those cliche’ “Follower” things, but we’ll see. I’ll try to keep it as basic as possible for everyone. Then I’ll let you all in on the multitude of goodies going into said box o’ goodies. Here’s a hint: dragons and chocolate. It’s going to be good.

This is a very on the fly progress report. I have a lot of writing to do today and a some what limited window of opportunity to do it in. I need lots of luck and kudos today, or I doubt I’ll survive it. I can do this! I’ll be checking in with you again soon.

Tuesday’s I’ve set aside to write about whatever I wanna, lol. This day may change to a new day though depending on what’s going on with the exclusive blog story in the works right now. I’m in the collaboration stage with a few wonderful authors. This is going to be exciting on so many levels.

Anyway, back on topic. Tuesday is my “write whatever I want” day at the moment, and today I’m going to probably be all over the place with topics and things going on. I guess this is going to be kind of like a progress report of sorts. I had planned on writing a post about some of the things I’ve been reading lately, but I’m still letting my mind simmer in my latest reading adventures. I finished a few books on tape recently, and am now reading The Dark Tower by Stephen King. So far so good, but I didn’t expect less, lol.  Once I’ve collected my thoughts, I’ll write about these books more.

Most of my time has been spent plotting and thinking about the Dragons sequel in the works.  I’m close to the end. Around seven chapters close. Much like the first dragons book, these chapters are fairly short, as that’s just the style of how the story demands to be written. This story is taking on a lot of interesting turns. I’m still trying to decide how I feel about a lot of them, lol.  I need my lovely beta to give them a nice look through, then I need to go through and do some adding and changing and editing. Then it’s time for submission and the waiting game – again.

If all goes according to plan, it will be out late summer, early fall of this year. I’m still waiting for a release date and other information in regards to my other book. It’s amazing how time is just flying by.

When I’m done writing this book, you better believe there is going to be a huge party going down. A huge party that will be in the form of a contest. I’ve finally got the details figured out and everything. Now, everyone hope the baby cooperates with me today so I can get a lot of stuff done!

Today an anthology of wedding stories titled “Matrimonial Mayhem” being released from AstraeaPress. All of the proceeds are going to benefit the victims of the tornadoes in the Southern United States. One of those stories was written by yours truly. It’s a snippet of the Dragon’s Saga. I won’t spoil too much of it, but let’s just say there’s a rather unique sort of proposal. To go along with that theme, I’ve decided to write up a blog about…unique proposals.  Enjoy the cute and the bizarre!

One lucky commenter to all of the blogs in this blog hop will win a e-copy of my YA Romance/Fantasy novel Legend of the Oceina Dragon!  And much, much, MORE! This is running through Sunday, May 15th!

I absolutely love this video.  I think if you’re going to watch one video on this post, this would be it.  It is by far the most romantic thing I have ever seen!

 Here is Kim Bowman’s story:

“My husband, Tony, spent roughly $5 in one of those bubble gum style machines to get me a ring. We had just ate dinner and I was sitting in a recliner in his living room.
He knelt in front of me and ask, “Do you love me?”
”Yes, of course I love you.”
He pulled his hand from behind his back and dropped the plastic bubble holding the play ring in my lap. “Enough to marry me and spend the rest of your life with me?”
How could I say no to that! He told me later that he wanted us to pick out our rings together. I love my wedding rings, but I wouldn’t take a million dollars for the plastic one that he proposed with:)”

From weddinator.icanhascheezburger.com

From Oddee.com:  Graciela Asturias, a 27-year-old architect from Manhattan, got a very unique birthday present when her now fiancé proposed to her a thousand feet above the ground while floating in an airplane cabin.

To celebrate Asturias’ birthday, the couple boarded a specially designed Boeing 727 aircraft that creates the experience of microgravity during four-five minute plunges as it flies up and down between 24,000 and 35,000 feet, allowing the passengers to experience a near zero gravity effect. While Alex and Graciela were floating in the cabin, Alex popped the question. Alex was a bit worried that while in zero G, the ring might float away but luckily everything worked out. Graciela not only received a great birthday presentbut they experienced an amazing proposal, a love so strong, unbound by gravity itself.

The couple plan on spending their ten year anniversary in orbit.

This is definitely mind blowing.

My personal proposal story is a bit quirky. My now husband was coming to pick me up to go out for some lunch. He had set the ring box on the passenger seat and promptly sat right on top of it.

“You’re sitting on something.” He tells me.

“I know.” I reply. I pull out the box and stare it, and I’m pretty sure I know what’s going on here.

“You’re supposed to open it.”

“I know.” And I do so, put on the ring, and we drive off for lunch. Nearly twenty minutes pass before he finally asked me the question.

“Will you marry me?”

I believe I said something like this:

“I’m already wearing the ring, duh.”

So you asked a bunch of great questions, and here are the answers to them all!  On top of that, this is the interview for those of you participating in the scavenger hunt.

What’s the scavenger hunt? Glad you asked! It’s a multiple blog hunt where you read different character interviews and answer some specific questions. You wanna play and win some cool books? Send an email to:  promorobyn@gmail.com And you’ll get hooked up with an official form.

Now without further ado, here is an interview with Darien.

Aside from being awesome, what do dragons do for fun?

I would say it depends on the dragon. We’re all different in our personalities just like you humans. I prefer to read, watch movies, swim, or explore the city. My brother Tony on the other hand spends most of his free time in the kitchen trying to discover new recipes. Now if you mean dragony things that we do for fun? I love to fly through the clouds. Those really big clouds that look like cotton balls? They feel amazing on the skin, all moist and cool. We have games that we’ll play together sometimes while we fly. I also like to swim in the oceans, but it’s not something I can do much anymore because of the shipping trades.

Do dragons shed their skin like lizards and snakes do?

We don’t, but my kind also do not stay in our dragon form for long periods of time. I bet if I spent a significant time in my dragon form, I would start to shed it off. When I transform though, my dragon skin refreshes itself.

Is the Loch Ness Monster a dragon, or some other mythical creature you’re not related to?

I don’t know what the Loch Ness Monster is. Sounds scary! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a monster that isn’t scary. I would say though, if it looks like a dragon, it probably is one.

Are baby dragons born knowing how to swim/fly/do whatever else dragons do, or do they have to learn how, like birds?

They have to learn how. Some of it is instinct. My kind, being so in tune with the water, we go into the pool with the young ones and let them explore. They learn that they can breathe underwater and how to swim – even in the human form. Flying is harder to learn, especially since we don’t become solid in our transformations until about five years old.

Do you plan to name your baby after your father?

Tai and I haven’t discussed what we’re going to name our first son just yet. It’s a possibility, though I think she has something else in mind. I don’t want to push the issue just yet. We still have a lot of time, and she’s having a hard time absorbing this new adventure we’re about to embark on. I’ll keep you posted!

As you are the one in-charge how are you going to go about getting your people together for war?

At the moment, I’m trying to gather up all of the evidence. The more I can let the facts do the persuading, the better. I’m not sure they’ll listen to me because I’m so new to the job, and because I’m so much younger than them. My uncle Arthor is on my side though, and this helps a lot.

Or will you go about it without their vote?

I will do what I need to do. If I must to protect my family and my nation, I will find a way to go about it.

How big are your scales?

About the size of a dinner plate. Keep in mind, I am small in size for my kind though. On average, they’re about the size of 14″ pizza. These are the big main scales of course. They vary in size, based on the location and function of the scale. Some are small and flexible. The big ones are for plating and protection.

How close can you get to a princess before you singe their hair off?
My fire can project about thirty feet or so. I’m not sure if that answers your question or not? I guess it depends on if I’m breathing fire!

It’s there a possibility of the baby being a girl?

Tai thinks so, but I’m not convinced. There has never been a female dragon born – ever. Still, when I was reading through the holy book the other day, I saw something about how the Great Dragon was going to be a pure dragon. I’m not sure what this means exactly. After everything that has happened, and what I’ve seen, I suppose anything is possible.

Are dragons the only creatures running about in your world?

There are other animals, birds, dogs, cats, horses, cows, etc. If you mean mythological creatures, no. We are the only ones.

What is your plan for the Oceina Dragon race?

Right now, I want to get us through the war with the Inero. I won’t lie, I am worried, because so much of their plan is unknown to me. Once that is settled, I want to focus on the country and making the most of our resources and trades. I would love to see the nation develop and grow, advance into the future if that makes any sense? I want my nation to be great and strong, educated as well.

What are your weaknesses?

Magically speaking, I’m weak against Earth magic. All of the dragons were created with balance in mind. Water is weak to Earth, Earth weak to Wind, Wind weak to Fire, and Fire weak to Water. Now if you mean me as a person, that’s something different all together.

Do all dragons have magical abilities?

Yes! All the dragon species have an element, and their magic reflects said element. My spells all revolve around the water and life. There’s a theory that we can combine our magics together even, but no one has tested this recently. It’s kind of a myth. I’m certainly curious.
