Archive for the ‘Archive’ Category

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I figured I would. Pay attention because there will be a test later. ;) And there will be a reward for anyone who does well on the test. But more on that when I get that far. Until then, enjoy and get to know what it’s like to be a barista. To see other character sketches, go here!

Marit “Sprinkles” Thompson

Favorite Drink:  Hot cider with whipped cream and lots of cinnamon.

Favorite Music: I got my brother’s taste in music. I listen to just about everything on the planet. World music is my latest guilty pleasure.

Marion “Princess” Stevens

Favorite Drink:  Dirty, extra hot Chai

Shop Pet Peeve:  People who try to get free add-ons by acting like I’m stupid for messing up their order. For example saying: I ordered Vanilla in this, but no, you didn’t. You’re just a cheap snob who doesn’t want to shell out forty freaking cents, let alone leave me a tip.

Favorite Song: “Heads Will Roll”

Words to Live By: “Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels”

Favorite Movie: 10 Things I Hate About You.

Obscure Fact: You know that trick with your tongue and a cherry stem? I can’t do that, but I can guarantee I’m an amazing kisser.

Favorite Thing: Watching the sunrise in a place I’ve never been before.

Disclaimer: The girl in the picture is Vanessa Hudgens. I don’t know her. I do not own that picture. No infringement is intended.

Here’s a segment, slight interview with Darien titled: This or that. If you have any you’d like to add in, feel free to comment. Here we go!

The great nation Oceina. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be covering this amazing country and people. Today I am starting with the beautiful Oceina City.

Oceina City is the capital of the country, and home to many of the booming businesses. The Oceina people are highly technologically advanced. They pride themselves in their innovation, but still hold fast to the values of the home. The political system of the humans is a democracy, where as with the dragons are like a democracy mixed with a monarchy. There’s a head family, but the decisions are made and voted on by the elected/appointed officials as a whole.

The great city of Oceina is home to around 10 million people, or slightly more than Los Angeles. Their primary export is technology and fish. There are a number of beautiful skyscrapers accenting and highlighting the natural areas of the land instead of hiding them. Below is a picture of Dubai, but this amazing city is similar to how I’d always imagined Oceina City looking.

Okay, it’s no lie I have a bit of a musical crush on Gavin Mikhail. The man is talented! His music is also inspiring. A lot of the Dragons Saga soundtrack is made up of his music. I’ll to share as many as I can without overloading you all and explaining how they apply.

“Brave” has always been a song that’s touched me deeply. It fits Darien all too well as he gets ready to face all of the new challenges in his life head on, and seemingly alone. “If you can stay proud, I’ll be brave somehow.” Is him in a nutshell.

This is an intensely emotional song about love, lost, and faith in God. Anyone who has read “Legend of the Oceina Dragon” knows how much all of those themes play a part in the book. It’s a gorgeous song.

“Bring on the Rain” is a newer one of his songs, and I apologize for the quality of this video. The healing power of the rain is something Tai strongly believes in, and I think the message of this song fits in with that belief.

This is “Come alive”. Those of you who have seen my book trailer may recognize the song. Did you all know he was generous enough to let me use his music simply for a copy of the book? He’s quite possibly one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

“Catch Your Fall” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves though. ;)

he’s a talented song writer, and I would have him not only compose a song for my movie, but the entire score!

Then of course there are the wonderful covers he does, and I’ll link to a playlist of them, but I’d rather showcase all of his wonderful original work!

Let’s do some music. I’m not going to write a bunch of details with this post. I’ll let the music speak for itself. These are a couple of songs you might find on the Dragon’s soundtrack. I’ll post more of them next week, and more casting stuff too. I need to get back to writing though, otherwise this post would be more indepth. Until next week!

Tai Dawson

Name: Tai Dawson
Age: 18
D.O.B: Novemberish
Ideal Casting: Lucy Hale
Personality: stubborn, indecisive, bold, intelligent, independent.
Brief Bio: Tai is an only child. Her father walked out on her family when she was young, and she’s never trusted men or the idea of love ever since. then she’s told she’s the chosen sacrifice for the great dragon, and her life is over. Instead of being killed, she’s taken to be his bride – something she has mixed feelings over. On the one hand, he’s sweet, and wonderful. On the other, she didn’t choose to be with him. Over time, she discovers for herself how she truly feels.

For a while, it was hard for me to figure out who I wanted Tai to be. She’s kind of a unique character. She’s bold, but delicate all at once, and like most teenage girls hasn’t quite figured out who she even is yet. She doesn’t have the same kind of experience Darien does, so she’s not quite as comfortable in her own skin yet. This isn’t an easy thing to portray on the screen.

Then I started watching Pretty Little Liars.  It’s kind of my new TV crack, especially since my other shows are on hiatus for the summer.  Then it all just clicked into place!

Finding good videos of her is a lot harder, so unfortunately I don’t have any to share. Next week I’m going to start covering…the brothers!

Welcome to my first “archive” post. For those of you who don’t know what an archive is, let me get you up to speed.

Basically, an archive is a compilation of ideas and statistics about a given work. Things like: Who’s going to play my main characters once I get my movie deal? What music do I want on my soundtrack? And other related information!

Here is the first official post!

Legend of the Oceina Dragon

Darien Oceina

Name: Darien Oceina
Age: 18
D.O.B: Early Junish
Ideal Casting: Landon Liboiron
Personality: Thoughtful, gentle, caring, mildly bratty, naive, stubborn.
Brief Bio: Darien is the youngest son of Orion, the great dragon lord. He’s touched, which means he has extra magic essentially, and that extra magic caused his mother to die in childbirth. He found Tai when he was a teenager, and for him it was love at first sight. Then he brought her back to be his bride, and his whole life changed.

More on Landon:

That was a lovely fanvid don’t you think?

I know the video quality isn’t as good there, but it was the only one I could find of this scene.  If this isn’t Darien? I don’t know what is.

Did I mention he sings?  You should definitely listen. He’s got a great voice and he writes his own music. Swoon? I think so.

He’s got the gentle thing down, and the passion.

I first encountered Landon through my Degrassi addiction (the show is like crack for me).  At first I was like: “Who is this kid?” And then I started to love his character, and then him as an actor. He also did a guest spot on “Life Unexpected” and will be starring in a new show this fall called “Terra Nova”.  Naturally, I’m super excited. I hope the show is a success. It’s on FOX, so I’m going to have to cross my fingers double time.

Next week, we’ll be exploring Tai’s casting!  Happy Saturday!
